Community Health Initiatives Fund
Catawba Valley Health System (CVHS) has been a proud supporter of this
community for over 50 years. Through the Catawba Medical Foundation, we
have established the Community Health Initiatives Fund (CHIF) to partner
with organizations that:
- Improve the health and wellness of our community.
- Have non-profit, tax-exempt status under Section 501C3 of the IRS code.
- Will use all granted funds for the direct benefit of our local area.
CVHS
will further prioritize investments in projects that directly benefit vulnerable
or underserved populations.
The total amount of funding available for the CHIF each year will be based
on our financial performance in the prior fiscal year. Twice each year,
members of a CHIF Review Committee, which will include members of our
Board of Trustees, executive leadership and other representatives, will
evaluate all sponsorship opportunities. Where possible, CVHS will also
seek partnerships with area agencies, foundations, and businesses to co-invest
in endeavors that improve the health of our region.
In addition, CVHS has been a long-time supporter of arts and science organizations
within our county. While such investments do not necessarily fit the core
goal of the CHIF, we have also created a separate fund to continue supporting
these vital organizations each year. For more information on the CVHS
Arts & Science Fund, please visit

More requests for funding come to us annually than we are able to fulfill.
As such, a decision not to fund an application should not be construed
as a reflection on the applicant organization. If you are not granted
funds in a given year, we encourage you to reapply if you meet the above
requirements.
CHIF Applications will be reviewed twice each year during two grant periods:
Spring and Fall.
- Applications for the Spring grant period will be accepted between October
of the prior year and March of the grant year. Select applicants may be
asked to present their applications in person during the month of April
to our CHIF Review Committee. Finalists for the Spring grant period will
be selected and granted funds in May of the grant year.
- Applications for the Fall grant period will be accepted between April and
September of the grant year. Select applicants may be asked to present
their applications in person during the month of October to our CHIF Review
Committee. Finalists for the Fall grant period will be selected and granted
funds in November of the grant year.
