In an effort to make waiting more convenient for patient family members,
Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) recently added three personal computers
for public use in its Day Surgery lobby.
“For many people, waiting feels very unproductive,” said Susan
Knowles, RN, MSN, CVMC day surgery and PACU clinical development coordinator.
“If day surgery patient family members and friends would like to
catch up on their e mail, communicate with work associates or surf the
Internet, we have these computers available for their use. We hope this
will help make waiting during outpatient surgical procedures more productive
and enjoyable.”
Catawba Valley Medical Center is a not-for-profit, public healthcare system
providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health
education, wellness services, preventative medicine and acute care. CVMC,
twice recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Magnet
facility, was named as a Hospital of Choice by the American Alliance of
Healthcare Providers as well as twice awarded as a “Distinguished
Hospital for An Outstanding InPatient Experience” by J.D. Power
and Associates.
