HICKORY, NC – Oct. 22, 2013 –
Catawba Valley Medical Group (CVMG) has announced the addition of
Catawba Valley Vascular Surgery, the organization’s second specialty care practice. The facility
is located at 1899 Tate Boulevard Southeast, Suite 2106, in Hickory, and
will serve as the primary practice for E. Gary McDougal, M.D., PLLC.
Catawba Valley Vascular Surgery specializes in vascular and non-cardiac
thoracic surgery, including treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms,
aortoiliac occlusive disease, carotid disease, peripheral arterial occlusive
disease, and venous disease with treatment for varicose veins and venous
ulcers, among others.
”After practicing in this area for many years, I am now able to limit
my practice to vascular and non-cardiac thoracic surgery, and thereby
extend service to the people of Catawba County and the surrounding areas,”
said Dr. McDougal. “By limiting my practice to vascular and non-cardiac
thoracic surgery, I am able to expand offerings of intervention to allow
more people to stay in this area for treatment.”
Dr. McDougal brings more than 30 years of experience as a practicing surgeon
to CVMG. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama
College of Medicine and completed his residency and chief residency in
surgery as well as a fellowship in vascular surgery at North Carolina
Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. He was the first board certified peripheral
vascular surgeon in the Unifour area and is a fellow with the American
College of Surgeons. Dr. McDougal is a former chief of staff and chief
of surgery, as well as current director of the Cardiovascular Laboratory
and chair of the Endovascular Committee for
Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Catawba Valley Vascular Surgery office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
and 12:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m, Monday through Friday. Patients are encouraged
