Ringing in a New Year at the hospital isn’t the way everyone dreams
of celebrating a new calendar year. But, the birth of Holden Robert Biggs
at 7:30am on Thursday, January 1 symbolized both a family’s new
beginning and marked the end of a year that brought a record number of
births to the CVMC Birthing Center where 2,087 babies were born. Just
a few day later, patients and staff received more joyous news as the not-for-profit
community owned hospital was named a 2015 Women’s Choice Award®
America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics.
“We thought he would come early, but being the first baby born at
CVMC in 2015 was a surprise,” said Melissa Biggs, a popular St.
Stephens High School teacher.
She and husband Kevin received a special gift basket and recognition on the CVMC
Birthing Center Facebook page where comments and posts congratulated them on the arrival of their 6
lbs 4 oz son who became a baby brother to daughters Myla, 6 and Peyton, 4.

confirmed 2014 was a banner year for the birthing center with 2052 deliveries,
surpassing the previous record set in 2013 by 285 additional deliveries.
“For the fourth consecutive year we are seeing an increase in the
number of deliveries, which is a great trend for our staff at the Women
and Children’s Pavilion which opened in 2012,” said Miller.
“We are happy to report such strong growth in the number of babies
and families who enjoy the new spacious facilities and our commitment
to making each birthing experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible.”

institutions based on robust criteria that consider female patient satisfaction,
clinical excellence, and what women say they want from a hospital.

The America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics scoring process is unique
in that it is the only national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction.
Only the hospitals who qualify for this highly selective designation provide
the highest level of obstetric services based on their exceptional scores
for patient recommendation, as provided by data reported by the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services in
Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys, as well as an analysis that weighs criteria identified
as the most important to women for patient satisfaction, including early
elective deliveries.
