HICKORY – Catawba Valley Medical Group (CVMG) has announced the arrival
of Vincent Pompili, MD, as the new medical director for Catawba Valley
Cardiology. A highly regarded physician and educator, Dr. Pompili comes
to his new practice from Thomas Jefferson University Sidney Kimmel Medical
College where served as professor of medicine, and from Deborah Heart
and Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ, where he was chair of the Department
of Cardiovascular Medicine.
Dr. Pompili is board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular
Diseases, and Internal Medicine. He completed his internship and residency
at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD; his cardiology fellowship
and postdoctoral research training program at the University of Michigan
Medical School; and his interventional cardiology fellowship from the
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is a graduate of the Case Western University
School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH.

to the patients in our community,” Dr. Pompili said.
Dr. Pompili is a highly experienced interventional cardiologist who specializes
in the care of patients with complex coronary artery disease, myocardial
infarction (heart attacks) and cardiogenic shock. He is specially trained
in cardiac catheterization and treatment of coronary blockages with intracoronary
stents. He is a specialist in radial artery catheterization and predominantly
performs catheterization from the wrist approach. Dr. Pompili is also
trained and performed some of the clinical trials in transcatheter aortic
valve replacement (TAVR) for aortic stenosis.
