Today, we recognize FaithHealth Catawba and all the work they do for the
community of Catawba County and the surrounding areas. FaithHealth is
a dynamic partnership between the faith community, Catawba Valley Health
System and other community partners focused on improving health. The partnerships
combine the caring strength of congregations, the expertise of healthcare
providers and a network of community resources. All partners are linked
in a shared mission of healing. FaithHealth believes that a healthy individual
makes a healthy community. They work hard to touch the lives of the community
one individual at a time.
We interviewed a few people that received help from FaithHealth Catawba,
and they shared how FaithHealth Catawba completely changed their lives.
In the first situation, a woman in this area was severely injured while
working and went through three separate surgeries as well as a few other
diagnoses. Unable to work, she lost her job and her ability to pay for
these surgeries, a car, or a house. In August of last year, she found
herself without a home and nowhere else to turn to. She was “mentally
shut down, couldn’t focus or get enough rest.” When she didn’t
think she would make it out of this hole, a few of her nurses at Catawba
Valley Medical Center got her in contact with FaithHealth Catawba. She
shared with us that one of the biggest things they helped with was simply
pointing her in the right direction. They brought her a checklist of different
housing authorities, Medicaid applications, and showed her how to get
in contact with NC Med Assist (a program that assists those in need with
payment of their medications).
They not only provided her with these services, but also continually assisted
her with the checklist. After the incredible amount of support FaithHealth
Catawba provided for her, this woman wishes to tell them, “I really
appreciate the ladies with how compassionate and kind they are.”
Every time she was in contact with the team at FaithHealth Catawba, they
met her with a smiling and friendly face that was free of judgement. They
took her in and helped her, no matter what her situation was. Since she
began working with FaithHealth Catawba, she now has a permanent home to
live in, a working vehicle, and is now on Medicaid and NC Med Assist.
She can finally go see her doctor again as well as get the medicine that
she needs. She is extremely grateful for FaithHealth Catawba and shares
that they are truly an answer to her prayers!
In the second situation, a man went through a major surgery at CVMC and
needed financial assistance for his medications. Again, the staff at CVMC
got him connected with FaithHealth Catawba to fill his need. FaithHealth
Catawba stepped in and got him immediately connected with NC Med Assist
to provide his medicines for him. He shares with us that he was surprised
how fast the team at FaithHealth Catawba got him into this program and
got his medicines to him. He was especially thankful for the entire staff
here at CVMC and how, in every step, they kept him very well informed
and never left him in the dark. The medications he now receives through
NC Med Assist have helped save his life, and he is incredibly grateful.
The team at FaithHealth Catawba treated him as if he was the only patient
they had. He is extremely thankful for all the help from everyone at CVMC
and the continued support they give to him.
