Dr. Harvey graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in
Missouri in 2001, and became Board Certified in Family Medicine after
completing residency at Corpus Christi Medical Center: BayArea in 2004.
He has practiced medicine at Sansum-Santa Barbara Medical Foundation Clinic
in Lompoc, California; Auburn University, in Auburn, Alabama; Genesis
Primecare in Longview and Marshall, Texas prior to moving to Hickory,
North Carolina and joining Catawba Valley Medical Group.
Jay met his wife, Catherine, while in residency in Corpus Christi, Texas,
and was married shortly after moving to California. He grew up in Santa
Barbara, CA, and attended UCSB for undergraduate school where he got a
Bachelors in Physiology and Cell Biology. He and his wife have two daughters.
He enjoys movies, music, and theater. Additionally, he enjoys travelling
with his family. As an osteopathic physician, he occasionally utilizes
OMT (osteopathic manipulative treatment) in addition to traditional medical
treatements. Dr. Harvey has experience with treating a wide variety of
health problems. He believes that the key to successful medical care is
educating the patient so they can be an active participant in their own
care and understand why they have been given a particular treatment or
recommendation.
