About
Dr. Peltzer grew up outside of Washington, DC, in Fairfax, Virginia but
has practiced family medicine in Newton since 1994.
After graduating with Honors from the University of Virginia in 1987, he
remained at UVA and received his medical degree in 1991. He then completed
his residency in family medicine at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital in
Pittsburgh.
Dr. Peltzer practices all aspects of family medicine with the exception
of obstetrics. He has a special interest in preventive care and pediatrics
and offers minor office surgeries including treatment of warts and skin cancers.
He is on staff at Catawba Valley Health System, where he previously served
as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine. He is board certified
in family medicine and currently chairs the Physician Development Committee
and is the Catawba County Medical Director of Access Care. He served as
the first Medical Director of PACE of Catawba County and is a member of
the Catawba County Medical Society, the North Carolina Academy of Family
Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Peltzer is married to Julie Lail Peltzer, a native of Catawba County
and self-employed speech language pathologist and professional photographer.
They have four children; Ben, Rachel, Sam and Sarah.
He is an active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Catawba
Valley and is a member of Temple Beth Shalom, where he has previously
served on the Board of Directors. He enjoys racquetball, hiking, cycling,
whitewater rafting, soccer and woodworking.
