As a Catawba County native, Dr. Story joined Newton Family Physicians in
August, 1999. He resides in Newton with his wife and children and enjoys
practicing all aspects of family medicine except obstetrics.
Dr. Story continued his education at Lenoir-Rhyne University after attending
Bandys High School. Prior to completing his residency at Greenville Health
System, he received his medical degree at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. He is board certified by the American Board of Family
Physicians and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr Story’s medical interests include caring for a wide range of patients
from infants and children to teenagers and adults. He has a special interest
in disease prevention and well care. Several common medical conditions
he treats extensively include diabetes, hypertension, and lipid and thyroid
disorders. He also provides acute care for sickness/illnesses including
infectious disease, lacerations/injuries, musculoskeletal sprains or strains
and other dermatological conditions such as rashes.
He has a special interest in preventative health for adults age 18 and
older and enjoys discussing his patients' health status and ways to
prevent illness with an emphasis on developing healthy habits. He also
takes the time to discuss age-appropriate laboratory evaluations, cancer
screenings and preventative care for men and women at each stage of life.
In addition to the practice of medicine, Alan enjoys spending time with
his family, hiking, camping, and fly fishing.
