About
Originally from Merced, California and born the youngest of five children,
Dr. Vang and his family relocated to Catawba County when he was six years
old. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Meagan, a native of
Catawba County. They have recently moved back to Newton with their two
children; Eben and Everly, and pet Yorkie named Jackson.
After graduating as valedictorian from Maiden High School in 2005, Dr.
Vang attended Wake Forest University where he earned his degree in biology
with a minor in chemistry.
Prior to completing his residency at Cabarrus Family Medicine at Carolinas
Health System and serving as Chief Resdent during his final year, he received
his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina
University and was awarded The Golden Living Center Geriatrics Award.
Dr. Vang enjoys practicing all aspects of family medicine with the exception
of obstetrics. He enjoys taking care of patients of all ages from newborns
and children to adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. He has had
extensive training in the management of common medical conditions including
diabetes, dyslipidemia and hypertension. He is also performs minor surgical
procedures in the office.
Dr. Vang has joined the staff at Catawba Valley Health System where he
hopes to be an active member of the community. He is board certified in
family medicine and currently serves as the District 6 Director for the
North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians. He is a member of the North
Carolina Medical Society and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
When he is not working, Dr. Vang enjoys spending time with his family,
dog, friends and loved ones. He also enjoys hiking, photography, tennis
and fishing.
