Heart Failure Clinic
Catawba Valley Cardiology offers a dedicated heart failure clinic to provide preventative care for
patients experiencing heart failure symptoms. The clinic offers an alternative
to an emergency room visit for patients with minor heart failure symptoms
such as shortness of breath, swelling or fatigue.
CardioMEMS Wireless Heart Failure Monitoring
CardioMEMS offers a proactive solution shown to greatly reduce hospital
admissions among heart failure patients.
In February, 2015 CVMC became the first hospital in Western North Carolina
to offer the FDA-approved
CardioMEMS Heart Failure monitoring system. This revolutionary solution has been shown to reduce future hospital admissions
of patients with heart failure by more than one-third. Implanted in the
pulmonary artery in a non-surgical outpatient procedure, CardioMEMS involves
a sensor that transmits daily readings from a patient’s home to
providers at Catawba Valley Cardiology who monitor their status on a regular
basis. This allows early detection and medical intervention sooner, improving
heart failure patient outcomes.
