Catawba Valley Medical Center Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

HICKORY, NC – February 8, 2017 – Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) announced today the appointment of Kimberly S. Crews, CPA, MHA as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Crews succeeds David Boone in the CFO role and will report to CVMC President and CEO Tony Rose.

Crews has served as Vice President and CFO of High Point Regional Health in High Point, North Carolina for the past seven years. Prior to this she held positions as controller in several organizations and Director of Decision Support/Cost Accountant at High Point Regional. Crews earned an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University in 1988 and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010. She has been involved in the High Point community, actively serving on the Board of Directors for Family Service of the Piedmont and as a member of the Kiwanis Club.

In her role as CVMC’s CFO, she will serve on the hospital’s Executive Committee and be responsible for leading the finance organization and key supporting functions, including revenue cycle, treasury, controller, tax and internal audit.

“I am delighted to add someone with Kimberly’s deep expertise and insights to the CVMC leadership team,” said CVMC President and CEO Tony Rose. “Given Kimberly’s extensive background across major finance disciplines and her direct experience as CFO, I am confident in her ability to lead our finance organization through the challenging reimbursement systems in today’s healthcare environment, including multiple payment models, state and federal regulations, and the focus on bundled payments.”

“I am extremely pleased to join CVMC, a community hospital with such a longstanding history and tradition of serving people with a broad array of healthcare services in Western North Carolina,” said Crews.

As part of his planned succession, Boone will remain on the CVMC Leadership Council, assist with the transition of the CFO office, and will continue to lead the other key functions within his portfolio of responsibilities until his retirement later this year. Rose said, “David Boone has been an invaluable asset to the medical center, community, and me. While we are focusing on Kimberly coming on board at this time, we will have an opportunity in the future to recognize David for all his contributions.”
