Catawba Valley Medical Center Announces Visitor Restrictions Lifted

Beginning Monday, December 21, 2009, Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) will lift visitor restrictions set in place in early October for children under the age of 18. The medical center is lifting the restrictions because fewer people with flu-like symptoms are being seen in the Emergency Department and by Catawba Valley Medical Group primary care practices. According to state officials, the H1N1 flu is not as widespread as previously experienced.

CVMC continues to urge anyone with flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat, or fever to refrain from visiting inpatients. CVMC will continue to monitor the flu situation and should conditions warrant, future restrictions may be put in place again.

Catawba Valley Medical Center is a not-for-profit, public healthcare system providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health education, wellness services, preventive medicine, and acute care. CVMC, twice recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Magnet facility, was recently named as a “Distinguished Hospital for An Outstanding InPatient Experience” by J.D. Power and Associates as well as a Hospital of Choice by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers.
