CVMC, Employees Contribute Record $29,147.49 to Catawba County Relay For Life
HICKORY, NC – Catawba Valley Medical Center employees and team members
joined together to raise $14,147.49 for Relay For Life of Catawba County,
an annual fundraising and community event held May 21, 2010 by the American
Cancer Society. Catawba Valley Medical Center matched that effort with
an additional $15,000 to make the total contribution from CVMC $29,147.49
– the highest amount raised among all 64 teams participating in
the event. CVMC’s top three fundraising departments were Respiratory,
Administration and Surgical Suite/Anesthesia.
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity,
and it offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate
in the fight against cancer. Funds raised through Relay For Life of Catawba
County support the American Cancer Society’s advocacy, education,
research and patient support efforts, including several programs in Catawba County.
Catawba Valley Medical Center is a not-for-profit, public healthcare system
providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health
