Catawba Valley Medical Center Names Allison Burris 2010 CARE Employee of the Year
Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) recognizes each month a single employee
who epitomizes CARE—one who embodies Courtesy, Attitude, Respect
and Enthusiasm for commitment to maintaining a positive guest relations
atmosphere and to demonstrating a sincere compassion and concern for patients
and fellow staff members. At the end of the calendar year, one employee
is chosen from the twelve recognized throughout the year and is named
“CARE Employee of the Year.” CVMC recently announced Allison
Burris received this high honor for 2010, according to J. Anthony Rose,
president and CEO of the facility.
As a Radiologic Technologist V and Diagnostic Angiography Specialist, Burris
has been employed by CVMC since January 3, 1983. “I am very surprised
to receive this award and it is truly an honor,” says Burris. “I
work with such an exceptional group of people and all of our caring efforts
together make our hospital what it is today.”
In her spare time, Allison enjoys the company of her nieces and nephews,
their children, and her “furry friends.” Allison has one dog
and several cats. She has recently discovered her love of decorating cakes,
and is an active member of her church, where she is a board member. Allison
actively participates in outreach programs for homeless children, ALFA,
the Women’s Resource Center, soup kitchens, Better Breathers, March
of Dimes, and Relay for Life. Congratulations, Allison!
Catawba Valley Medical Center is a not-for-profit, public healthcare system
providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health
education, wellness services, preventative medicine and acute care. CVMC,
recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center three consecutive
times as a Magnet facility, was recently named a Hospital of Choice by
the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers.
