About
Dr. Laney is a Caldwell County native. A 1999 graduate of the University
of North Carolina School of Medicine, Dr. Thomas Laney earned his Doctor
of Medicine attending medical school as a recipient of the UNC Medical
Alumni Award/Scholarship, a four-year full academic scholarship. He then
received clinical honors during his third and fourth years of medical
school, after which he completed his Family Medicine residency at Spartanburg
Regional Healthcare System in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 2002. From
1987 to 1991 he served in the US Navy as a Corpsman and served as combat
medic with the USMC. He is a veteran of the first Gulf war. He has been
working at Graystone Family Healthcare in Conover since 2003. He enjoys
the full scope and variety that family medicine provides. He especially
enjoys caring for multi-generational families and being part of their
family. Dr. Laney and his wife Ingrid of 18 years, reside in Hickory with
their 3 daughters. He enjoys spending his time with family, soccer games,
gardening and being outdoors. He is active in his church and currently
serving as a deacon.
