Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Catawba Valley Medical Center Heart Catheterization Lab
Cardiologists perform vital procedures in our state-of-the-art cath lab.
The physicians use catheterization procedures to perform diagnostic heart
catherterization as well as balloon angioplasties and stenting of the
coronary arteries.
Dr. Luke Byrnes became the first in the area to perform a radial heart
catheterization procedure, in which the catheter is inserted through the
wrist rather than the leg. For many patients, this option can provide
a more comfortable procedure and faster recovery.

- Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) to detect life-threatening rhythms
- Pacemaker insertion for slow heart rhythms
