Catawba Valley Medical Center Enhances Its Maternal and Fetal Care Program
HICKORY, NC –Catawba Valley Medical Center’s (CVMC’s)
Maternal and Fetal Care program provides state-of-the-art care for women
with high-risk pregnancies. CVMC’s partner physicians, from Carolinas
Medical Center Women’s Institute of Charlotte, are specially trained
to perform detailed level II ultrasounds and high-risk specialty consults
to help guide local Obstetricians in appropriate care for complicated
pregnancies.
“This program will improve the services available at Catawba Valley
Medical Center,” said Trish Beckman, CNM MPH, Administrator for
CVMC’s Center for Women and Children. “This program will offer
women in Hickory and other surrounding areas the opportunity to seek specialized
high-risk pregnancy consultations without having to travel to Winston
or Charlotte. Our program is the only Maternal Fetal Medicine program
with this state-of-the-art care in a 50-mile radius.”
Services available in Catawba Valley Medical Center’s Maternal and
Fetal Care program include: Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Genetic Counseling,
Prenatal Screenings and Diagnosis, Ultrasound, and Fetal Therapy. Some
services may require a physician’s referral to the Charlotte offices.
Women with a history of a complicated pregnancy or women who are currently
experiencing medical complications in pregnancy can receive ongoing evaluations
and consultations through CVMC’s Maternal and Fetal Care program.
