Catawba Valley Medical Center continues its annual tradition of celebrating
the 49th annual National EMS Week from May 21-27 with a weeklong series
of acitivites to honor its regional EMS workers.
In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners
and the important work they do in our nation's communities. This year's
theme is EMS: Where Emergency Care Begins.
EMS Week is a time to recognize the dedication of those who provide the
day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's front line, and to raise
awareness about the crucial role that EMS plays within our community.
“EMS is like having an Emergency Department on wheels that roll up
to the scene of your emergency, bringing with them highly trained medical
professionals and advanced equipment,” said Chuck Scronce, CVMC’s
Emergency & Cardiac Services Administrator. “We’re so
fortunate to have multiple agencies operating at a high-level servicing
our communities.”
