HICKORY, NC – May 27, 2015 — Women In Philanthropy (WIP), will host its annual benefit event
– Party on the Lawn Saturday, June 6 at the SALT Block from 5:00
– 8:00 PM. WIP, a “giving circle,” of women who combine
their philanthropic contributions to benefit organizations affiliated
with the Catawba Medical Foundation, is an extension of Catawba Valley
Medical Center (CVMC).
Both men and women are invited to enjoy Saturday’s event, featuring
food from Highland Avenue / The Crossing at Hollar Mill and beverages
from American Honor Ale House & Brewery. Party on the Lawn will be
held on the north lawn of the SALT Block with live music by the Moore
Brothers Band and kid-friendly activities as well. Generous donations
by presenting sponsor Jennifer Tingen Clark Realtor® / Broker at Weichert Realtors-Team Metro, supporting sponsor Jennifer Eaker
Fulkerson, PLLC, Attorney at Law and Donna Hill with Envoy Mortgage are
making this event possible.
WIP hopes Party on the Lawn will be a catalyst for growth of its WIP membership
currently consisting of 20 influential Catawba Valley women led by Rebecca
Wright, President. WIP is open to women of all ages desiring to become
advocates for enhanced patient care. Several notable examples of recent
WIP contributions include:
- $2,200 for a Stryker transport chair to make transporting patients requiring
diagnostic imaging safer and easier, especially when a stretcher is not
the best option.
- $2700 for 100 diabetes glucometers and test strips for the Ortho/Neuro
department to test blood sugar levels to help prevent re-admissions to
the hospital.
- $9885 for Neoblue LED lighting and phototherapy blankets, used in the CVMC
Level-III NICU and Pediatrics Unit. The blankets allow mothers/caregivers
to hold babies (and breastfeed) while they are treated for jaundice.
“WIP is a tremendous example of people coming together to make a
difference in the community,” said Guy Guarino, Chief Development
Officer at CVMC. “WIP improves the quality of care for patients
by supporting particular needs identified by the Foundation.”
Party on the Lawn tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children over
10. Tickets include entertainment, food and two beverages. A portion of
the ticket price may be tax-deductible. For more information, contact
