HICKORY, NC – Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 – Catawba Valley Cardiology
has announced the hiring of James Ritter, M.D., as the practice’s
fourth cardiologist.
“I am excited to join such a high quality cardiovascular team and
work in an outstanding facility. My family and I look forward to joining
the Hickory community,” said Ritter.
In his new role, Ritter will perform heart diagnostic catheterization,
balloon angioplasty, intracoronary stenting, angio-jet thrombectomys,
intravascular ultrasounds and peripheral vascular interventions, among
others. He is also completing training for permanent pacemaker implantation.
“We are very happy to have Dr. Ritter join Catawba Valley Cardiology.
His experience will allow us to provide 24/7 interventional cardiology
coverage for heart attach victims at Catawba Valley Medical Center,”
said Brian Steg, M.D.
Ritter is a 25-year healthcare professional. He comes to Catawba Valley
Medical Group from Tri-State Cardiovascular Institute in Wilmington, Del.
where he served as an interventional cardiologist, prior to which he operated
his own practice. He spent nearly 20 years with Cardiology Consultants
in Newark, Del. and served in tandem for four years as the Assistant Medical
Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Christina Care Health Systems also
in Newark. He has served as the principal investigator on numerous trial
studies and carries board certifications from the American Board of Internal
Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He earned his medical
degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, completed
his residency at the Medical Center of Delaware in Newark and was a cardiology
fellow at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia.
