Certified Application Counselors will be available at CVMC’s Health
First Center in Valley Hills Mall for free assistance in choosing and
enrolling in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This community outreach program
is offered to help boost enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace
and to educate our community on selecting the best solution for their
unique healthcare needs.
“With the enrollment deadline less than five weeks away, we are seeing
a growing number of people who want one-on-one help to compare plans,
walk through the process of enrolling and understand how they might qualify
for a subsidy which will make coverage even more affordable,” said
Sharon Smith, Health First Center Program Coordinator.
The goal of the ACA, also referred to as Obamacare, requires everyone to
have some type of health insurance. This includes receiving treatment
for pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, mental illness,
asthma and pregnancy. Those who are uninsured and don’t sign up
will face a penalty when they file their tax returns next year.
“Some individuals are overwhelmed by the options and just need help
getting through the enrollment process, necessary paperwork and websites,”
said Marsha Armstrong, Certified Application Counselor.
