HICKORY, NC – July 15, 2013 – The Health First Center at Valley
Hills Mall welcomes all veterans and their family members to three free
Wednesday health-centered courses. The series is presented by rural health
nurse educators from the Department of Veterans Affairs and begins this
Wednesday, July 17 and continues Wednesday, July 24 and Wednesday, July
31 at 1 p.m. Registration is required, please call 828/485-2300 ext. 6201.
The Wednesday, July 17 course focuses on Hands-Only CPR and choking. Skills
needed to save lives with the use of Hands-Only CPR will be taught. There
will also be representatives available to talk about other veterans’ benefits.
The second class happens Wednesday, July 24 and features nine healthy messages
that are important for living a healthy life.
The third and final class, Wednesday, July 31, spotlights good diabetic
self-management, beginning with understanding diabetes and preventing
diabetic complications.
Attendance is free for all veterans and their family members. Individuals
may attend specific courses or all three. Refreshments will be provided.
All former and current military members and their families are encouraged
to attend. The VA staff will also provide healthcare registration, education
and information services to all non-registered veterans.
